Panhandle Big3 Discoveries Hit Four in Four Counties

Western Nebraska's Big Three reports four new discoveries this week in Kimball Banner and Cheyenne counties. The latest, W C McBride Inc HLM Dow McHugh No 1 Richards north of Potter, yielded 450 feet oil 90 feet water from 5233 to 5239 feet. Pump and completion work underway after 25 barrels oil per hour swab test.

Snowy Panhandle Forecast Slows Sidney Traffic

Sidney Welfare Center Opens Monday by Seventh Day Adventists

The Sidney Welfare Center run by the Seventh Day Adventist Church opens Monday for receiving and distributing clothing. It will be open each Monday to aid needy families and during local emergencies, with all clothing given away.

Wheat Growers Annual Meeting Slated Tuesday

Cheyenne County Wheat Growers Assn sets its annual meeting for Tuesday at 7 30 pm in the City Auditorium. President Gennie Herboldsheimer urges all county wheat producers to attend and participate in reports and state convention resolutions. The group has about 210 members and the sample deadline shifts from November 2 to November 1 for 100 pound overseas shipments. directors should be contacted promptly.

Christensen 74 Former Sunol Resident Dies in Loveland

Martin Christensen 74 longtime Sunol resident died of a heart attack at his Loveland home on Wednesday. Funeral services scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm from Craig Mortuary with Rev. Norman Schroeder officiating. burial in Lodgepole Cemetery. Born July 2 1885 in Fremont Nebraska he married Maggie Jensen in 1907 and moved from Sunol to Loveland then California in 1951. Survivors include three sons Carlos James Dwight seven grandchildren two great grandchildren one sister and one brother. another son Kenneth preceded him in 1937.

Beatrice John C Liene mann of Scottsbluff captured grand champion honors at the Nebraska State Wheat Show with a Cheyenne sample testing 65.2 pounds. Open class had 358 entries. junior class 145. Reserve grand champion went to Robert D Spearow of Gurley for a Cheyenne sample at 63.9 pounds. UP Authorized To Close At Sunol

The State Railway Commission authorized Union Pacific to discontinue agency service at Sunol Station. Station manager Del Lamm said the station will close after business hours Wednesday, Nov. 4, following official notice from Nebraska Division superintendent T. F. Shanahan of North Platte that the station will be abolished on that date.

Richard Schultz 74 father of Mrs. Roland Krohn and Wilbur Schultz of Sidney died Tuesday night in a Aurora Oregon hospital after a heart attack. He lived in Gurley area for nearly 50 years before moving to Aurora three years ago. Funeral set Tuesday at 2 p.m. from St Paul Lutheran Sidney with Rev O L Mueller officiating. Jolene Larson Crowned Wheat Queen at Nebraska Show

Jolene Kay Larson of Gurley won the 1959 Wheat Queen title at the Nebraska Wheat Show in Beatrice. The event crowned Larson, 17, with Deanna Woodside and Jorda Thomson as attendants. 11 contestants competed. Mitchell FFA dominated 4-H grain judging with Detlev Prautzsch and Kenneth Vogel leading the individual results. Former Rep Clifford Hope spoke on U S farm productivity and Great Plains Wheat Market Development.

Sportsman Cafe To Hold Grand Opening
