Pioneer Kimball resident Lemmon dies in Denver
Panhandle figure Panhandle Kimball Frank Lemmon, a west pioneer who came to the area nearly 80 years ago and lived in Kimball 40 years, died at age 88 years 10 months at his Denver home. Funeral services were held at Olinger mortuary Denver with interment in Greeley Colorado. After his wife’s death in 1903 he moved to Kimball in 1904 to farm and run stock business until ill health sent him to Denver a year ago.

Mexican National Attacks Co-Worker in Beet Field
Juan Ortega a Mexican national working at the John Michael farm northwest of Bridgeport was bound over to district court on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. He attacked Reuben Castenada with a beet knife during a dispute over topping beets, slashing Castenada’s right cheek.

Secretary Forrestal notified Mrs. Clara Loebe that her son Joseph John Loebe, missing in action since October 3, 1944, is now presumed dead. The aviation radioman third class was aboard a plane off Morotai Island in the South Pacific. last heard ten miles from base, it failed to return to its carrier. An air search found no trace of plane or crew.

Former Lodgepole Resident Is Buried
Burial services were held at Lodgepole Monday afternoon for Roy Durkee age 60, a former resident of the Sunol Lodgepole area who died in Rock Springs Wyoming last Thursday of a heart attack. He is survived by his wife Julia, a sister Harriett Kidney of Lodgepole, nieces in Lodgepole and Sidney, and other relatives. Funeral services were at Rock Springs with the body arriving Lodgepole Monday morning. Craig Home for Funerals had charge.

Another carload of scrap paper was loaded Saturday by the county salvage committee with equipment from the Sioux Ordnance Depot and help from Mr and Mrs Stanley Robinson who served as standbys. Secretary J K Mahr said the car had a 50 thousand pound capacity and there was still paper left over after filling it.

Albert Gade Retires as U P Worker After 51 Years
Albert F. Gade aged 68, a car inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad at Sidney, has retired and applied for an annuity under the Railroad Retirement Act provisions. He has been on leave due to illness and began with the railroad as a section laborer on the Nebraska division in October 1911.
