Airport bond support urged for Sidney voters next Tuesday
Byron Johnson, chair of the chamber of commerce airport committee, urged support for the airport bond issue at the polls next Tuesday. He outlined plans to develop an airport near Sidney two miles south of town, pending city purchase of an approved site. The proposed location has state and federal approval, with funds available after title transfer. A failed Beatrice airport vote was cited as a warning against apathy. Sidney currently lacks a commercial airport. a CAA field west of town is for emergency use only, and Johnson leases land east of town for his flying service. CAA officials indicated the west field could relocate if developed. Depot officers attended the meeting, and secretary Tobin noted a successful teachers convention.

Brig Gen Guy N Henninger Nebraska adjutant general warns postwar National Guard housing will be a terrific problem. Guard units will be in 40 towns but only two armories exist in Kearney and Falls City. Company K 134th Infantry with 195 men to be housed in Sidney. Elsewhere space must be rented in auditoriums or business blocks. Construction needs are high but a $3000 per unit limit hampers veterans construction.

Buses Expanded on Overland Greyhound Route Schedule
Overland Greyhound Lines announces added service from Chicago to Los Angeles and from Salt Lake City to the Northwest. General Traffic Manager R. J. O Conner states nine daily schedules will cover all towns along the Overland Route starting November 4. The line previously operated five daily runs on the Chicago to Los Angeles leg.

Mrs Jorgensen Dead Funeral Held in Sidney NE
Mrs J C Jorgensen longtime northeast Sidney resident died last Friday after years of illness. Funeral services were held Monday at First Methodist Church with Rev Walter L Jewett officiating. Interment in Sidney Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include husband, son Alfred, daughter Anna, six grandsons. daughter Martha died 1920. Born December 2, 1873 in Thisted Norway, she emigrated in 1884 settling in Chicago then Minden Nebraska before moving to Sidney in 1907. She joined the Sidney Methodist Church in 1923 and taught Sunday School until ill health forced her to stop.

Eugene H. Howe died unexpectedly from a heart attack Sunday at age 70. A Iowa native who moved to Nebraska in 1917, he lived near Red York and later Sidney Draw before settling in Sidney. He is survived by his wife Louella, a nephew Norman Trobaugh, and two brothers Edward and Elmer. Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church with Rev. Walter L. Jewett. burial followed in Fairfield. Craig Home for Funerals handled arrangements.
