Parkland Drive clears path for Sidney Plaza Shopping Center

Parkland Drive between 11th Street and Highway 19 advances plans for the Sidney Plaza Shopping Center. Work on the half mile four lane road began earlier this month and may finish this year, paving the main access to a center including an Alco Discount Store and other tenants.

Sidney board keeps Arter as architect for planned school project

Land sale nets 1.9 million for Audrey Farrell Estate

Land auction in Scottsbluff drew 1 970 690 dollars for 5620 acres mostly wheatland. Prices ranged 231 to 308 per acre with a north of Bridgeport irrigated tract selling for 1668 per acre to George and Angie Darsaklis. Voter Registration Ends Friday in Nebraska Election

Voter registration for the November 2 election ends at 6 p.m. Friday Oct 22. Cheyenne County residents will vote for president and federal and state offices plus local and regional bodies including Wheat Belt Public Power District, Potters school board, Sidney city council, and four county and district posts. Eight constitutional amendments are on the ballot.

Good weather boosts harvest pace for corn and soybeans

The Agriculture Department said by Oct 17 about 48 percent of corn and 60 percent of soybeans were harvested, ahead of last year. Winter-wheat planting for 1977 was 81 percent complete, near last year but below mid October average. North Platte dropped to 19 degrees as Alliance saw a 56 degree high. skies were mostly cloudy with continued chill.

Pittam Elected President of Sidney Oktoberfest Corporation

Trial moved to Cheyenne County for murder case

Alan Seems of Kimball faces first degree murder charges in the death of his wife Sandra. The Cheyenne County District Court in Sidney will host proceedings next month after Kimball County jurors were deemed unavailable. Seems remains free on bond.
