More than a dozen people joined a local CAMP tour of Fort Sidney led by former resident Tom Buecker. The group visited the Post Commander's Home, Officers' Quarters, powder magazine, Christ Church, Pole Creek Pony Express Station site, firing range, Boot Hill Cemetery, the Sidney Deadwood Trail, and the irrigation ditch site. The Sidney Telegraph won first place in community service from the National Newspaper Association at its 90th annual convention, with publisher Larry Boyer accepting the award.

Sidney Beet Dump Opens and Handles Daily Beet Loads
The Sidney Beet Dump began October 2 and operates six days a week. Lorraine Lafler weighs trucks and monitors loads while five Lodgepole Valley beet growers haul beets to the dump. Neighborhood campaign launches at the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce office with a 6:30 p m meeting. Workers will pick up materials and cover Sidney neighborhoods all week. Friday’s drive total reached 4295 dollars about 29 percent of the 15000 dollar goal.
