Obituary of James E Higgins 24 Dies of Tuberculosis Near Sidney
James E Higgins aged 24 died of tuberculosis Monday at his father's home fourteen miles from Sidney. He had moved from Saunders County about a year ago to live with his father. The body was shipped Wednesday to Valparaiso Nebraska for interment.

Leap Year Ball at Hen Roost Club Hosts Pleasant Evening
The Hen Roost Club held a leap-year ball at the ice-plant hall with Stokes Orchestra providing music. The hall featured drapings cushions and pennants while posters warned men of their precarious social position. A fifty cent fine for dancing with others was noted. Last Monday at the Masonic Temple the Eastern Star held its annual School of Instruction with visiting Grand Matron Elizabeth C. Gamble of Omaha. The session was praised as one of the most profitable in chapter history, highlighting solos by Gamble and remarks by former patron J. J. McIntosh. A new piano enhanced the program, Grace King chaired as pianist, and refreshments followed under manager Peer of the Pacific Hotel.
