The Village of Sidney Nebraska calls a special election for November 8 to decide issuing 12500 for water works extension. A petition signed by 75 electors urged bonds to extend and improve water supply, financed by a remaining tax levy, with 6 percent max interest and 20 year maturity.
A one night only pastoral drama by the Perry family arrives at the opera house on Saturday October 17 promising four acts with special scenery and effects. It features a humorous country schoolroom scene and a winter Montana setting with an old shepherd guiding his flock. Tickets range 50c to 25c with a money back guarantee for value.
Cheyenne County Nebraska Board of County Commissioners met October 6 1914. Minutes approve September 23 1914. Road 242A and 239A established as public highways with surveyor to act. Petition filed questioning Simon Fishman citizenship denied for lack of jurisdiction. Numerous general fund claims audited and allowed totaling substantial amounts. road and bridge expenditures listed by district. Meeting adjourned to November 10 1914.
An old fashioned party for Misses Dorothy and Alta Morford of Lincoln, cousins of the Wallicks, drew twenty guests. The evening began with a theatre party and was enjoyed by all, especially the visiting city girls who are returning from the western states. The Misses Morford returned home Thursday.
Mrs Alexander and her young son from Lodgepole spent Saturday visiting shops in Sidney, enjoying a day of browsing and light social activity in the town.
The Belle M. Stoutenborough Club opened Saturday October 4 with a meeting led by Mrs. Lascelles and a roll call on Autumn Poetry. Sixteen members attended as business matters and Federation Notes were discussed including the National Federation biennial meeting in Chicago. Mrs. Percy V. Pennypacker of Texas was re elected president. Adjournment set for October 17 with Mrs. Shoemaker.
Henry E. Gapen, a longtime resident, fronts his bid for County Judge. The candidate recounts 25 years in the county, service as Clerk in the United States Land Office, later practice before the Land Office and Department of the Interior, and noted integrity and capability. He urges new residents to consider his qualifications while he remains in the county.
Last Monday evening a football contest on the fair ground ended with neither side scoring. The game pitted a town team of husky young men against a high school faculty and former principal team led by Frank Schroeder and Principal Stoddard. Schroeder and Stoddard commanded their squads with zeal while Alfred Bentley, despite injuries, delivered the most spectacular plays for the high school group.
A. B. Johnson and wife visited town on Tuesday. Michael Flood came from Davison precinct on Thursday. R. L. Fegley and J. C. Dunn with wives represented Dalton on Wednesday. Williams and Strader from Iowa stayed with Dick Williams earlier in the week. An auto party from Dalton included Dr. Hedlund and wife J. C. Prandsen and H. C. Anderson. Dr. Webster will be away on a professional trip. Sidney office closed next week. Born to S. E. Goodin and wife on September 26 a ten pound boy. James Ward and wife of Ickes travel south into Colorado to locate. Vr. Klein returned last week from Brainard and Grand Island. Miss Blanche B. Faber sprained ankle and is confined to her Kimball rooms. her Sid ney music class has a vacation.
Miss Ethel Klein came back Friday evening after a brief visit in Denver. Miss Clara Klein will stay for the winter to pursue vocal music studies under her present plans.
Mrs. Mary Flanders sister of Mrs. Dawson and spent summers here departed Saturday for her winter home in San Francisco. She will be missed by a large circle of friends made on this and past visits to Sidney.
Richard Kreuger visits Omaha to support his convalescing wife at Immanuel hospital. She should return home in about one to two weeks and can read cards. In Framont Nebraska a state meeting elected Jas Ella Williams as Grand Lodge officer of the Degree of Honor and Mrs. Magnolia K. Duke of North Platte was also elected. The western part of the state gains strong representation in the fraternal beneficiary society.
A recent auto party to Peetz included Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Harper Miss Ella Erickson Mrs. Dawson and Mrs. Flanders. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitelock Sr. at a splendid six o clock dinner. Mrs. Flanders and Mrs. Whitelock were old school mates and to celebrate their meeting Mrs. Whitelock opened peaches she had won a prize for at the state fair.
Mrs A S Ayle former chief of honor of the D of H leaves Monday evening for Fremont to attend Grand Lodge as a delegate from Sidney Lodge. Miss Ella Williams accompanies her. Wednesday morning Joseph Oberfelder travels to Grand Island for the final day and to attend a special A O U W finance meeting.
Joseph Simodynes and Grace V King were quietly married October 17 1914 at Grace King home. Rev Laselles officiated. Attendants Miss Hazel King and J T M Pearson. After the ceremony the couple left for Omaha Lincoln Wahoo and other points. Parents and community extend best wishes.
William H. Crossby and Frances Elizabeth Young of Denver were married by County Judge Gapen at his office on October 12.
Warren D. Miller Jr of Watkins Colorado and Beulah B Ronig of Denver were married by County Judge Gapen at his office on October 12 in a formal ceremony noted by the county.
Arthur Bloom and Caroline Schwartz of Kimball were united in marriage by County 1h in a small ceremony. The couple, joined by family and friends, begins their life together with vows and well wishes.
The Frances Willard Union met at Mrs Shoemaker's home on October 10 for a Mother's Meeting. Speakers discussed balancing time between children husband and social life. Rev Dobbs spoke on truthfulness with children and predicted suffrage and national prohibition ahead. Refreshments followed and the group planned to meet November 6 with President Mrs Owens.
