Sidney High School overwhelmed visiting Gering 27 to 0 on Homecoming night as Larry Miller ran for 186 yards on 17 carries and scored twice, with Terry Wickstrom adding 114 yards and a touchdown. The defense held Gering to 33 rushing yards and stifled the Bulldog passing attack throughout. Rita Johnson was crowned Homecoming Queen at halftime.

Fathers of the Gurley Pirates will be honored on Dad's Day before the Gurley Lodgepole game on Friday Oct 20 starting at 2 p.m. Dads of players are invited as guests of their sons. Sandwiches and coffee will be served after the game in the school science room by the G Club.

Oshkosh overwhelmed Minatare 41-6 at Minatare in a North Platte Valley Conference game. Quarterback Gene Cerny threw four scoring passes of 53 35 57 and 34 yards with Bill Zorn catching three and Grant Decker one. Ray White added a 60 yard TD and Don Bentley scored on a plunge. Cerny added five extra points and attempted three field goals. Rick Bevins added an 80 yard kickoff return TD.

Cheyenne Central led 25 0 at halftime and defeated Scottsbluff 44 13 in Scottsbluff. Dick Sherman rushed 82 yards on 14 carries and completed 8 of 16 passes for the Wyoming attack. Sherman scored a two yard TD and threw all passing TDs while Oscar Barraza connected with Gary Neibauer on a 44 yard pass play. Central piled up 284 rushing and 233 passing yards, outgaining the Bearcats 517 total to 232.

Rollie Fickenscher scored three touchdowns and an extra point to lead Gurley to a 34 13 victory at Dix homecoming Friday night. Gary Millar and Bob Rowan added Gurley TDs while Stewart Sorge kicked an extra point. Gurley safety on Terry Fastenau tackled Tom McGowan in the end zone. McGowan sparked Dix with a 39 yard run a rushing score and a TD pass to Dan Juarez. Dix crowned Karen Lockwood queen and Bill Dickenson king at halftime.
