Nebraska judges weigh redistricting plan changes

The Nebraska District Judges Association referred multiple judicial redistricting proposals to its executive committee. Key ideas include merging districts 7 10 and 18, combining districts 1 and 2, adding a fourth district 4 judge, merging districts 16 17 and 19, combining districts 20 and 12, and moving Merrick County from district 21 to 11. A salary rise from 36 500 to 40 000 for district judges was also discussed.

Hutcher Emergency Services to open Sidney division

Hutcher Emergency Services Co a national cleanup firm for derailments is locating a Sidney division. Eight Burlington Northern freight cars derailed on the west edge of Crete Nebraska early today. One car contained anhydrous ammonia. No injuries were reported.

City to strictly enforce parking code and free landfill permits

City manager Strouse cites complaints from citizens and council members about lax enforcement.
