Harm A Poppen Dies At Home In Cheyenne County
Harm A Poppen a Cheyenne county resident since 1888 died at his home early Tuesday after several weeks of illness. He was 75 born in Ostfriesland Germany June 25 1838 married Johanna Von Ohlen March 17 1883. Two children John A and Frances Wiegard survive. The family moved from Franklin County Nebraska to Cheyenne county in 1888 homesteading east Gurley community. He worked on railroads and managed the homestead adapting to frontier hardships and later farming.

Sullege Girl Found After Search Shifts to Ghy Wednesday
Kansas City police announced Nellie Callow 18 a Maryville Missouri teacher college student missing since Saturday is in custody for her parents Sidney and Cheyenne county authorities were advised to be alert. The search moved to Sidney after an Omaha filling station attendant said he gave Miss Callow information and referred her to an uncle in Sidney. A prominent Sidney insurance man said she would contact him to hand her over. Thieves looted Gurley businesses including Wear A Well Shoe Store Gabriel Pool Hall Farmers Union Oil Station and Frank Christiansen’s garage. An abandoned sedan with stolen goods and firearms was found near Gurley and the license plate came from North Platte. Sheriff Schulz called the robberies brazen and puzzling.

Former Resident Is Buried In This City
Funeral services were held from Christ Episcopal church yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Josephine Carley of Wheatland Wye who passed away the first of the week.
