Early Day Sidney Resident Walter Lamberson Dies at 70
Walter Ellsworth Lamberson, an early Sidney resident, died at his Scottsbluff home Sunday at age 70. A North Platte Valley farmer and rancher since 1919, he was born in Fremont and moved with his family to Sidney at age nine, later living in Osceola.

Lloyd Raymond Rhine 24 son of Flora Rhine of Sidney and former Lodgepole resident was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism on Corregidor during the May 1942 defense. While manning a fixed machine gun nest under heavy fire he helped move two 30 caliber guns and repelled enemy advances, earning prior Army and Navy unit citations.
