District Court Advances on Docket With Half a Term Cleared

District court reports progress as about forty of seventy nine trial cases are disposed by late Thursday. Notable actions include several divorces granted and judgments in favor of plaintiffs. Sidney Welcomes Belgium's Royal Family on Tour

The Belgian King Albert Queen Elizabeth and Prince Leopold were warmly greeted at Union Pacific station by Sidney residents. Dressed in army olive drab, the royals traveled in special train No. 1 2 en route to the western coast. The family appeared democratic, Mgr Miles led three cheers, and many in the crowd shook hands with the royal guests.

Louis Mann Building Garage on Front Street

Louis Mann plans a two story garage and machine shop at Front Street opposite the Union Pacific Freight depot. The 48 by 66 foot structure will house Oldsmobile service with new machinery, while the current location becomes storage and showroom. Willard Service station stays put. occupancy expected in sixty to seventy days. Mann recently returned from Lansing with nine new machines.

Reds win World Championship in nine-game series

Cincinnati Reds clinched the World Championship by defeating the Chicago White Sox five games to three in Chicago. The win marked the first World Series played under the nine game format, with the Reds taking the series in eight games.

The Cheyenne County Red Cross chapter cancels its announced November 2011 drive opting to fund the desired quota from existing funds. Officers call it a proper step and expect membership approval amid frequent war activity campaigns, as campaigns have grown difficult and less likely to succeed.
