National Guard Delays Basic Training for New Recruits
The National Guard Bureau grants Nebraska Army National Guard authority to delay entry into basic training for up to 270 days. The program targets high school seniors and graduates to finish education or gain college basics before six months of active duty. Maj Bill Whitney says the 270 day delay improves on the previous 180 day limit and helps youths arrange affairs ahead of training.
