The Kearney Journal reports warm greetings to General Morrow at the G A R reunion. Old comrades recall his valor and share a fraternal handshake. Camp Morrow was brief yet lively, with communities thanking Mor row Wheaton Mizner and others for a week of success.
A westbound freight collided with cattle in a deep cut on the Oregon Short Line at Ouax Idaho killing engineer Hall brakeman Walton and fireman Leonard. The crash buried the engine under about 14 cars and caused extensive damage. A separate wreck near Potter damaged several drawheads and involved three typographical tourists aboard.
Mrs McFarland arrives with Lieut McFarland family, Lieut Col Poland assumes command at the fort, and hospital patients rise with Private Kennedy aiding from Kearney. Leave requested for the lieutenant is granted and the quartermaster stores are repurposed for Company I. Troops march begins Elm Creek to Sidney with daily encampment stops.

The Ashford correspondent for the Centropolis World notes Messrs. St Rayner Lee Cary and Laing spent Sunday near Funnel Rock and Wild Cat Mountain with fine country views. Monday afternoon Rayner and Lee addressed a large audience on political issues with concise arguments. Cary and Laing led a jovial quartet featuring songs that enhanced the occasion and left a positive impression on local readers.
