R V Lloyd Dies Here On Sunday In Sidney Nebr
Ray V. Lloyd aged 76 who spent his last three months with his son Elmer Lloyd in Sidney died Monday morning at a local hospital after illness. The body will be sent to Elm Creek Nebraska for burial. He was born January 13 1873 in Pomeroy Illinois and married to Kate Daul on April 22 1896 in Elm Creek. He belonged to the Christian Church at Overton Nebraska and had lived previously in Hailey Idaho. Surviving are sons Elmer Joe and Leslie two daughters Leola Sweet and Mary Hart 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

SPU Worker Injured In Fall From Ladder
Jim Harvey of the Sidney Public Utilities was hospitalized in satisfactory condition after a Saturday fall from a ladder in an alley by Draper's Oasis. He sustained a fractured collar bone and compression fractures of two vertebrae, after the ladder collapsed and he slid onto the concrete. Vernon Livingston said the ladder was new and defective, a defect discovered after the accident.

The 1949 50 Sidney Civic Music Association season begins Friday at Sidney High School with Frank Edwins a popular young basso. The New York born 27 year old studied Florida music earned degrees at Miami Conservatory of Music University of Miami and studied Juilliard Rome and Rome’s American Academy. Edwins notable stages include La Scala Rome Opera the Metropolitan Opera auditions and Town Hall debut. He served in World War II as a medical song and chaplain's assistant before returning to concert and opera work. His press acclaim praised his interpretive skill and stage presence.

Gillihan Faces District Court Hearing In Nebraska
Gordon H. Gillihan, 15, of Seattle, charged with burglary, appeared before Cheyenne County Judge Robert A. Barlow and was bound over to district court on 1000 bond. He did not plead. the judge entered a not guilty plea for him. A state hearing is expected this week before District Judge John Kuns. Sheriff W W Schulz said bills from Billings and Deadwood questioned Gillihan and his 17 year old companion’s alleged series of break ins and auto thefts across Washington, Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska. Cunningham, who reportedly left Gillihan at Falls City, is under arrest in Seattle on auto theft charges and may face charges here.
