Duckett Sentenced to Three Years for Gift Shop Theft
John Duckett, 22, pleaded guilty to burglarizing the Gift Shop on September 8 and received a three year term in the state prison. He had planned a district court trial, was arrested in San Francisco attempting to pawn stolen items, and refused extradition. Robert Williamson, 19, drew a year in the men's reformatory for theft of exhibits at the county fair. J. H. Willis got 60 days for possession and attempted sale of obscene literature. All sentences were handed down by District Judge J. L. Tewell in Sidney.

Charles Callahan Dies in Washington Pioneer Banker and Publisher
Charles C. Callahan, 76, a Sidney banker and newspaper man, died July 28 in Burlington, Washington, where he had lived since 1915. He left Sidney that year to work in banking and organized the First National Bank of Sidney and owned the Telegraph from 1886 to 1888 and 1895 to 1903. His old friends recall him fondly as a longtime local figure.
