Pioneering surveyor G. W. Fairfield dies in Lincoln
G. W. Fairfield a Cheyenne county pioneer living in Sidney in 1886 died in Lincoln on September 20. A surveyor he located at Minatare in 1887 and focused on surveying and land locating. He promoted irrigation and supported many local irrigation projects and cared for a renowned orchard and garden in Western Nebraska.

Mrs. W. C. Bullock Dies After Long Illness at Omaha Hospital
Mrs. W C Bullock aged widow of W C Bullock died Monday at Clarkson Hospital Omaha after a long illness and surgical operation. Born in northern New York she moved to Nebraska sixteen years ago and settled near Lodgepole later serving as deputy to her husband, county clerk in Sidney. She was active in church and social work, a fine musician, and beloved by neighbors. Funeral was held at Lodgepole led by Rev. Hawk with large attendance and many floral tributes.

Murder of Blackfoot deputy sheriff E P Sweet shocks Idaho
E P Sweet, deputy sheriff of Blackfoot, Idaho, was killed during a Sunday night shooting at the railway yards when robbers opened fire on laborers. A second man was fatally wounded, a deputy sheriff fired buckshot at a fleeing robber, and a suspect was captured. Sweet was about 50, married with three children, mourned by his family as condolences pour in from Idaho and Salt Lake City.

Golden Wedding Celebration in Sidney Honors 50th Anniversary
A large gathering surprised Mr. and Mrs. Cuage on their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Sidney. Neighbors presented two McKinley rockers a sewing chair and a center table from Mr. B. A. Jones. Gifts were welcomed as friends enjoyed music recitals and a luncheon, leaving the couple with joyous memories of the evening.

Prohibitionists of Cheyenne county met at the courthouse on September 26. County Chairman Nunn read the call, Rev. Hageman gave prayer, and Lee Nunn was elected chairman with EB W Murlless as secretary. A. J. Haskell was nominated for attorney and Lee Nunn for commissioner. E W Muriless and Lee Nunn named to fill vacancies. R W Savage of Grant nominated as representative of the 54th district.
