Citizens push plan for county fair this fall
At a Tuesday Court House meeting chaired by A. J. Haskell residents urged a county fair focused on agricultural and stock exhibits rather than racing. A committee led by Trognitz, M. A special meeting in Gering for last Saturday night did not happen due to a misunderstanding and no arrangements to transport speakers from Harrisburg who spoke in the afternoon. Norris Brown returned to Sidney Sunday evening and then left for Chappell. The Kimball debate started at 9 30 because Greene missed a connecting freight and No 1 was late.

Brave Twenty Fourth Returns From Santiago Campaign
The 24th Regiment of colored infantry arrived in Sidney in two sections from Montauk Point after a month in camp. They join Fort Russell and Fort Douglas garrisons, with Major Thompson and Captains Angur and James among officers. The unit, once nearly 600, now about 900 after battles and hospital losses, includes a wounded private Milton Mallory and a band that traveled with the troops.
