Miss Anne Radcliffe celebrated last Tuesday with a surprise party arranged by neighbor Mrs. Daw son. Fifteen ladies attended, presenting a silver oyster forks set and a silver spoon as a keepsake, while Harriet arrived to a festive dining room and greeting.

One of the largest annual festival celebrations in town was the reunion at E. J. Sweets in honor of Mrs. Lawrence who has reached her eighty third year. Her children grandchildren and great grandchildren numbering twenty five spent the day there and none enjoyed the feasting and fun more than Mrs. Lawrence whose health is excellent. Those present were E J. Sweet Irene Sweet Mrs. Ragan and Sam Boggs and the families of Sam Sweet George Moore Arthur Sweet and John Call.
John White and his bride Miss Mary Seeger surprised friends by returning Wednesday evening in time for the dance and turkey with relatives. They will set up housekeeping in a modern cottage north of the Olean and resume social duties in their usual circle. Mrs. White was missed as organist at the Catholic church during their brief absence.
Friday evening the little sewing club met with Miss Nellie Dedrich. Mrs Dedrich supervised the labor and served refreshments. Members include Nellie Dedrich, Mary McIntosh, Elizabeth Schroeder, Helen Bassett, Rena Jackson, and Edna Harper.
Editor and Mrs J C Wolfe, Mr and Mrs Stanley Wolfe, Mr Sam Wolfe and Miss Nora Wolfe of Lodgepole plus J A Wisner and Charles Johnson of this place were dinner guests Thanksgiving Day of Mr and Mrs Stark.
William A. Reed of Sidney married Nellie E. Sanford of Lakieren Oregon on November 23 1912 at the parsonage by Rev. Hayes the couple's wedding announced.
Mary Kenney Borgquist born in 1833 in Ireland died last Saturday after a long decline. She sailed to America in 1856, married Carl Borgquist in 1862, followed him across Civil War postings, later ran a Sidney drug business, and moved to a ranch in 1892. Survived by son Paul and daughter Christina, now Mrs. William Shatto. deeply mourned by community. Funeral held Monday at St Patrick's with high requiem mass.
Teachers will hold their second county association meeting at Dalton with Mrs Stark presiding. A good program will be rendered.
Dr. E McDonald Mads Larson and Hugh Kenoyer completed final proof before County Judge Gapen on November 26th securing titles.
Sidney High School and Alumni clashed with the Town Eleven in a brisk Thanksgiving football matchup. McMillan starred with spectacular runs and a strong backfield supported by Kratz at center and Reynolds in punting as each side excelled on defense and mixed in clean, healthful play. The Tigers and town team showcased steady line play, with multiple tackles for losses and a spirited crowd cheering the hosts.
The Frances Willard Union, led by Mrs Hall, held a Friday session on November 28. Members discussed Miss Willard life and home life, noting the nation’s welfare depends on well ordered homes, and adjourned to meet December 6 at Mrs Ahrens home.
Mr Campbell hosts four guests at an elaborate three o clock dinner. The evening ends with an auto ride that leads to reckless driving and the party forgets the unease. Mrs Dan inspired the meal and Dan invited.
Tuesday’s event drew railroad men and visitors from Dalton to the creek bank for a trap shooting contest. The raw day kept scores low, with Messrs. Thomas and Veith of Dalton among the crowd and winners including Dr. Mantor, OD R Campbell, and the editor who lucked into a turkey prize. Oscar Brandt conducted the contest and sold his turkeys at a gilt edge price.
The 1912 Bridge Club met Wednesday at Mrs Bentley's. Attendees enjoyed a pleasant gathering with rendie fresh refreshments and cordial conversations. Preparations for upcoming events were discussed amid light socializing.
The A. O. U. W. dance and D. of H. supper on Wednesday night drew strong support. Mrs. Ragan chaired the supper, serving chicken and fixins from five to ten and lunch to midnight. The D. of H. netted about eighty dollars and the Workman association earned ninety dollars. James McLernon won a sofa pillow in the raffle.
Bidders packed the Robert Epps ranch sale despite a raw day on Tuesday. Auctioneer V. Kucera and Clerk A. Greenlee reported solid prices and satisfied bidders. John Daugherty and his wife hosted a warm gathering with food, music, and lively conversation attracting travelers to the Lone Star home.
On Christmas afternoon Mrs Ded rich offers free admission to children under twelve for a Crystal matinee. The small guests will enjoy the kindness and Santa’s offerings, a holiday treat many youngsters anticipate.
Dedrich and his wife hosted a full board Thursday true to their annual custom. Guests included FE L VanGorder Glenn VanGorder Don Devine F A Gapen and Mr and Mrs Edgar Dedrich with family. The market suffered a robbery of all edibles though decorations remained tasteful.
Mr and Mrs C E Harper hosted a holiday gathering with Mr and Mrs Jacob Eckert Sam Eckert and Mr and Mrs J W Harper in attendance for the family reunion and festive reunion.
Friday night last week the A O U W lodge hosted Grand Master Workman Judge A M Walling of Lincoln and Deputy Charles Pickering. A special dispensation allowed initiation of seventeen with an oyster supper and smoker after. Under Master Workman F G Griffith and Financier Joseph Oberfelder the lodge has grown to over three hundred members with a twenty five member class planned soon.
