Sidney Police investigated a Thursday incident when Steffen E Hall left his car in gear while exiting to retrieve his dog. The vehicle rolled forward striking a tree near the 19th Avenue Linden intersection, causing about 75 dollars in damage. Longtime Sidney Resident Ed Breternitz Dies at 63
Mrs. Ed Breternitz, 63, a Sidney resident for about 45 years, died at home Thursday of a heart attack. Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Ganzel officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by widower Edwin, daughter Norma Jean, and sister Laura Rudd. Caroline E. Rudd was born in Ong Nebraska in 1907 and married Edwin H. Breternitz in 1925, later operating a local bakery. She was a Methodist Church member.

Mishaps Involve Four Deer Across Nebraska Highways
Nebraska State Patrol investigated two deer collision incidents at the start of the holiday weekend.
