Lester R. Perry of Sidney retires after 38 years on Rural Route No 1, having logged nearly one million miles with no sick days. A dinner at Sidney Country Club honors him as Robert W. Carter takes over the route pending a Civil Service exam date.

Sidney businesswoman Kris Bertus Runs Trailer City and More

Kristina Bertus, owner of Trailer City, is active in Sidney’s Chamber of Commerce, serving on committees and helping with a brochure. She expanded Trailer City from 14 to 50 trailers, builds facilities, drives a school bus, and operates a septic truck service. She designed a billboard for the Chamber and participates in Panhandle Players theater.

More Snow Forecast Stalls Nebraska Thanksgiving Travel

Snow flurries hit western Nebraska slowing motorists from Chappell to North Platte. Officials reported no fatalities by noon as a light snow pattern lingered with near blizzard conditions in places. A band of flurries was expected to ease with Saturday highs near 40.

Postponed Hereford Sale Slated Monday

The Blanchard and Lindgren Polled Hereford Sale moves to Monday at 1 pm in the Camp Clarke Ranch pavilion Bridgeport. It was postponed from October 31 due to bad weather. Sixty head from Earl G Blanchard Oshkosh and Carl Lindgren Bridgeport will be offered.

Shorthorns Bring Good Prices at First Dorman Sale

The Dor man idiewild Shorthorn Ranch held its first production sale on November 19. Forty two lots grossed $13,170 led by Idiewild Prince Bob 2nd at $720 sold to Raymond Strey and Kenneth Yorges and Sons. Other top buyers included Owen G. Van Natta and Glen Frieden. Eight bulls averaged $363 and 34 females averaged $302. The Dormans plan to build a premier Shorthorn herd and use proceeds to fund future sales.

Kreinbring Dies at 55 Rites Set in Gurley

Henry Fred Kreinbring 55 a Gurley resident for over 40 years died today in Pronser Memorial Hospital Dalton after a heart attack three weeks ago. Funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church Gurley with Rev O L Mueller officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery Sistiey. Gehrig and Son Funeral Home in charge. Born Deshler Nebraska May 3 1904 he moved to Gurley in 1918 and farmed nearby. Survived by wife Hildawert two children Milton Henry Judy Ann one brother William of Sidney and three sisters Frieda Kieselhorst Elle Christensen and Ann Schumacher.

Santa Claus to Visit Sidney for Christmas Shopping Kickoff

Santa Claus arrives at Sidney Airport Saturday at 9 30 a m to begin an all day visit and will greet shoppers in Sidney stores each Saturday through Dec 19. Fruit Cake Sale Promotes Aid For Retarded Children

Civitan Club members in Sidney begin Saturday at 10 30 with a ceremony on Illinois Street. They will sell one two and three pound cakes on the streets all day to fund a long range program for retarded children including teacher instruction facilities and equipment. Cakes sell at one dollar per pound and will be available after Saturday at local shops.
