Sidney High Band to Play in Mexico City July 4
The Sidney High School Band will perform in Mexico City on July 4, 1963 as part of an all day Independence Day celebration sponsored by the American Society in Mexico City. Senator Carl Curtis and Senator Roman Hruska arranged the event with the State Department and the U.S. Ambassador. The band may headline the festivities in a major park, with funds raised by the Band Auxiliary and members, including a pancake feed with the Lions Club at Elks Auditorium Tuesday.

The Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion opened with strong turnout over the weekend. More than 1,000 attended the Saturday sale with 450 cattle, hogs, and horses through the ring, and Sunday drew nearly as many for a horse sale. Door prizes included a horse won by Mrs. L A Buller of Minnesota and a side of beef donated by Sidney merchants. A second horse auction may be held before Christmas.
