Blair Sheriff Heads Lawmen
OGALLALA The Nebraska Sheriff's and Peace Officers Association named Washington County Sheriff John Sutherland of Blair as president at the 75th annual convention. About 300 officers and wives concluded the two day meeting with Fremont chosen for the 1970 convention. Box Butte Sheriff Freddie Marsh was first vp and other officers were named from across Nebraska. The group voted to create five geographic districts to ensure representation, with districts designated northeast southeast Panhandle south central and north.

The Mid- Plains Vocational Technical School board approved a construction agreement with the newly formed Mid-Nebraska Foundation Inc to build a school in west central Nebraska. The foundation will erect the building for up to 150000 dollars and lease it to Mid- Plains which will complete interiors and equipment for up to 200000 dollars. Location is a site near Interstate 80 south of North Platte on land donated by Vic Halligan.
