Sidney youth wins second in Farm Bureau essay contest
Robert H. Runge, son of Francis and unnamed Runge of Sidney farmers, won second place in a statewide Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation essay contest. He received a $50 savings bond for "Safety on the Country Roads" at the state convention. Also honored were Cheyenne County Farm Bureau members for performance and membership credits at the state meeting, with delegates Kettler Misegadis and Larson attending. The essay urged vigilance on country roads, stressing dangers from hills, narrow lanes, livestock, and speed, and urging practical safety measures for farmers and drivers.
