Ohio Oil Co and others announce seventeen new drilling locations across Cheyenne, Scotts Bluff, Banner, Chase, Kimball, Hitchcock, and Kimball counties. Structures include Bevan Er, Van Pelt, and Bourlier fields with multiple wildcat prospects and a prior three well pack in Dalton area.

Santa To Arrive In Sidney Saturday Morning

Santa Claus, delayed by blizzards in Montana, will land in Sidney by plane Saturday morning around 9 39 from the North Pole. He will be in the downtown area from 10 a m to 7 p m and each Saturday afternoon until Christmas, per the Sidney Chamber of Commerce.

Oil and Gas Lease On County Land Brings $13 Bonus

State land sale in Cheyenne County yielded a $13 per acre bonus from Thomas G. Dorough of Denver, totaling $8,320 for Section 16, Township 12 North, Range 52 West. Additional tracts across Frontier, Kimball, and Red Willow Counties attracted varied bids from Skelly Oil, Midwest Oil, and Tennessee Oil and Gas Co. with per acre bonuses ranging from 50 cents to $225.

Payday Shift At SOD Sioux Ordnance Depot

Payday for Sioux Ordnance Depot personnel originally set for Friday November 27 will be paid Wednesday November 25 to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. The change applies to all scheduled pay runs affected by the holiday.

Vandalism Flurry Reported Across Sidney Area Over Weekend

Police logged several vandalism cases with no injuries. Incidents included a car break in near 13th Ave and Rose, a windshield hole from a pellet, rock-throwing at 13th Ave underpass, and gasoline thefts. Also notes a Sidney-SIOUX Ordnance Depot United Fund drive surpassing 80 percent of its $15,000 goal. Funds total $12,065.81 with distributions to Muscular Dystrophy and six cooperatives. Residential drive about 50 percent done.

Rauner Elected Vice President and Gerdes Re-Elected Wheat Leader

Len George Gerdes of Alliance was re elected president at the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association annual convention in McCook. Elected vice presidents include Robert Rauner Gurley Join Vienemann Sentts Bluff William Colwell Hey Springs and Ervan Friede McCook. Alternate directors named are Robert Stoddar Harrisburg and Beam Herbold Sheimer Potter. The Wheathearts elected Ted Olson Venango Meritt Allen Indianola and B Roberts Bayard as officers. Everett Peterson urged solving wheat surpluses while committees backed expansion of Missouri River terminal facilities and wheat stabilization acts. The plan favors 90 percent parity on domestic consumption with the rest at 65 percent parity.

A Sidney youth will lead the pricing of the Young Republicans Public Relations Clinic in Lincoln December 4 5. Former Potter Man Elevated in Agronomy Society

Dr. Rodney Bertramson formerly of Potter and son of Mr. and Mrs J. W. Bertramson was elected vice president of the American Society of Agronomy at the Cincinnati meeting. He chairs the agronomy department at the State College of Washington Pullman and will become president next year in Chicago.

Myron Seveland’s Father Dies Friday

John Seveland aged 79, father of Myron Seveland once of Sidney now in Denver, died Friday in a Rushville hospital after illness. He had lived in a Rushville rest home seven years. Funeral arrangements in Rushville are pending. Survivors include a daughter Mrs Pauline Shepherd of Gordon and six other sons.

Sidney Gurley Dances Scheduled This Week

A pre Thanksgiving dance at the Sidney armory Wednesday night features Dean Bushnell and his band. The following night Gurley hosts a Thanksgiving dance at the Legion hall with Millard Musil and his band. The Gurley event is sponsored by the Gurley American Legion. 50 Mile Wind Lashes Sidney Region Today

A brisk wind roared across Cheyenne County with gusts up to 530 miles per hour creating dense dust clouds in the Sidney area. Farmers noted no immediate damage to winter wheat but warned extended windy weather could become alarming while forecasts call for normal to above normal precipitation and temperatures ranging from the high 50s to the low 20s over the five day period.

Grand Ole Opry Show Tickets Now On Sale

Advance tickets for the Grand Ole Opry Show and Dance on Thursday December 3 at the National Guard Armory go on sale. Promoter Richard Peetz says tickets cost 1.50 in advance and two dollars at the door. Artists include Carl Perkins Billy Grammer and the Hadley Barrett western orchestra.
