Fire Danger Drives Hunting Signs in Cheyenne County
Farmers in Cheyenne County cite drought and fire risk as key reasons for posting no hunting signs this year. They fear rapid spread of stubble or grass fires, following a prior half million dollar prairie fire. A Sunday stubble field fire near Dalton raised concern, though no damage occurred. The Game Commission reports normal hunting abuses and no spike in arrests, while the cold snap and river conditions may ease fire fears. Goose and duck hunting along the North Platte River continues as conditions shift.
