Sunol and Lodgepole veteran beet growers refuse to yield to harsh autumn weather. Notable growers Misegadis families Ross Glassburn Ben Garcia Lemoyne Johnson and Charles Oliverius are cited among those enduring the harvest.
The Kensington Eastern Star luncheon at the Masonic Temple featured a Thanksgiving theme with hostesses Mrs. Frank Longan Mrs. Harold Ells and Mrs. C. A. Triska. Devotions by Mrs. Kenneth Bagby included a Thanksgiving prayer for American Heritage. Vice president Mrs. Marvin Anthony led the business meeting followed by card games. High winners were Mrs. Mike Timlin for canasta and Mrs. Elmer Hartmann for bridge. The annual Christmas dinner was set for December 14 at 5 30 p m at the Masonic Temple.
The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce notes two upcoming events. On Tuesday 7:30 p.m. November 25 the Citizens for Cheyenne County Development meet at the Vo-Tech School auditorium with Lloyd Linnekamp of Sidney Community TV to discuss local reception. On Tuesday December 3 the Ladies Division hosts a Channel 3 Sterling program titled Putting Christ Back In Christmas from 4 15 to 4 30 p.m. featuring Auxiliary members and the religious window display contest.
Bessie Walker of Kearney will receive the 1969 Nebraskan Gallant Woman Award at the Fall Conference of the Nebraska Republican Women's Club in Grand Island. She has funded a youth activities trust via the federation. Luncheon speaker was to be Dr A C Wimpie of Dallas and evening speaker Mrs J Lloyd O Donnell. The state group won a national second prize for its Gallant Women of Nebraska display.

Newcomers monthly meeting at County Club 7:30 p.m. Christmas party lunch $1.25 reservations urged.

Bridgeport to start a $307,622 low rent housing project in spring. Dick Hart, Bridgeport Housing Authority chairman, met with HUD officials in Chicago and said contracts will be let about March first. Five units with four apartments each will be built.
