Oil and gas firms push multiple wells in Cheyenne Banner and Kimball counties. Kimball County reports its 22nd discovery of the year as Nebraska hits a record production pace above 58,000 barrels daily, with several new field developments and wildcat drills underway across western Nebraska.

Carpenter Signals 1966 Run If Tax Laws Fail

State Senator Terry Carpenter of Scottsbluff said he would run for governor in 1966 if the Legislature and Nebraska's next governor fail to enforce tax laws. He told the Legislature that people want tax conditions changed and that he intends to act even if it requires him to become governor.

Woman charged with leaving accident scene in Sidney

Margaret Grigg of Sidney faces a charge of leaving the scene after a collision on Forrest Street. Police say she hit a parked car owned by Joan Scheurman causing about 150 in damage, then backed away and parked at 2212 Forrest where officers found the other vehicle with about 200 damage. She is to appear in police court next week.

Sidney and Dalton Lead Heart Model Classroom Gift Drive

Two Cheyenne County towns Sidney and Ralston led the Heart Fund drive earning life size plastic heart models for local schools. The Sidney model was delivered to the biology department and placed in use by Ray Swift with a teaching pamphlet and loan agreement from The National and Nebraska Heart Associations.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Stolen Car Recovery near Kimball

State Trooper Roy Anderson stopped a car near Kimball around 2 39 p m on Tuesday to investigate intoxication. The driver Odell Ernie Jones of Ovid had stolen the vehicle owned by Bonnie Christensen and was jailed after pleading intoxication. Jones faced a $100 fine and six month license suspension and remained in Kimball County Jail for non payment. Authorities in Kimball seek Colorado pickup upon release.

Kimball Man Escapes Injury After Truck Rolls Over

A Kimball man suffered elbow and knee bruises when his truck, owned by Tri Angle Machine Works, rolled onto its top six miles south of Potter on a county road. State Trooper Roy Anderson said damage to the truck and welding equipment was about $2,000. Sullivan was treated and released from a Kimball hospital.

Bids Recalled For Nursing Home Work February Set

Bids for the nursing home addition to Memorial Hospital are planned for February 2 with an option for two separate bids one on the original structure and another on removing the second floor. Architect Frank N. McNett revised plans to fit the budget after October bids were too high. If February bids are satisfactory, construction could start when weather allows.

The State ASC and SCS back a 1959 Cheyenne County conservation program budget of 110000 above last year, totaling 100000. Total goals include 200 miles of terraces, 10 miles of diversions, 20 acres waterways, 14 dams, erosion controls, livestock water dams and 45000 acres of grass seeding, with 20 wells reflecting shifts in wheat allotment marketing.

The Chamber of Commerce launches the third annual window decorating contest with the theme Christmas World-Wide.
