An accident west of Lodgepole injured 26 year old Calvin Oliverius as his 1948 Dodge rolled over on slick highways. Duck hunters faced mixed luck amid fresh snow three to six inches deep and a moisture reading of .30 inch at Sidney.

U P Worker Louie Beebe Dies Suddenly at Sidney

Funeral services were held Sunday for Louie Cecil Beebe Union Pacific employee who died of a heart attack after returning home from work Friday night. Beebe born in Council Bluffs Iowa worked 31 years with Union Pacific most recently as water service foreman in Sidney. He lived in Sidney with his wife Elva Swan Beebe and five children from his first marriage. He served in World War I and was a Methodist. Burial plans called for Columbus Nebraska.

New residents of Sidney who did not live here when memberships sold last spring may buy six dollar adult memberships and lower rate student passes. District Rotary Governor Leon Fine unpacked his bag this week for a brief respite during his strenuous tour of visits to call clubs in his district. He returned last weekend from visits to Hastings Ogallala and North Platte. He leaves again on Monday for Chadron Rushville and Valentine.

Meick Rites Wednesday in Sidney for Joseph Meick

Joseph Meick 63 a Sidney resident for nearly 40 years died Saturday at home after an extended illness. Services are set for 9 am Wednesday at St Patrick's Church with Msgr Anton Link presiding. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery under Gehrig-Dugan Funeral Home. Rosary at funeral home tonight. He was born June 18 1887 in Lipton Kansas and lived in several states before settling in Sidney. He married Clara Markle January 31 1912 in Sidney. Survived by widow five children two sisters three brothers.

Scouters Plan 1951 District Program Across Three Counties

Forty scouters from Devel Kimball and Cheyenne counties met Thursday night at Sidney Junior High School to map a three county district program for 1951. Robert Havercamp and LeRoy Johnson attended, Rae Jones chaired. Plans include a strong recruitment drive for Boy Scouts. Next district meeting set for December 21 at Sidney Junior High.

Robert Van Gundy moves to Sterling to become head buyer for Stickney, overseeing stores in Nebraska Wyoming and Colorado. Both veterans helped grow Sidney’s auto parts outlet, while Van Gundy plans a return to his Sterling roots after selling their Sidney home.

Potter Youth Center Opens Friday Night in Potter

The town unveils a $15 000 youth center built by community labor and gifts. Ballots were emailed to farmers last week for the election of Cheyenne County PMA community committeemen. Ballots must reach the PMA office in Sidney by November 30.
