Chicago traders see wheat prices slip after Argentina rains ease crop anxiety. Corn and oats decline while pork and lard futures also weaken. Cash prices show No 2 hard wheat at 96 to 64 cents, No 2 corn at 51/2 to 52 cents, No 2 oats at 34 to 34 1/2 cents.
Chicago cattle receipts about 2 000 with lower tone. Beves and western steers bring 4.10 to 6.60. Hogs receipts 26 000 with prices from 7.30 to 7.60 for mixed to heavy hogs. Sheep receipts 45 060 with natives at 2.25 to 4.10 and westerns 2.50 to 4.10.
The board of county commissioners appointed Henry E. Gapen to fill the county judge vacancy after seven candidates: three ballots produced no result, and on the fourth ballot Gapen received unanimous support. Mrs. Tucker to remain in clerical position under Judge Gapen. Also reports of local entertainment, hospital operation, and several local moves and occupancies.
N G Brewer underwent surgery Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha performed by Dr. Allison. He came through the operation safely and is reported to be doing well.

Firth Booth of Lodgepole precinct died at his home twelve miles east of Sidney on Wednesday morning. Booth owned a Lodgepole ranch and was a thrifty Cheyenne county citizen. School honored him as a longtime supporter of youth. Telegraph offers sympathy to Esther Booth and family.
Chas H Brown 53 of Dawson and Brown shot himself with a 38 caliber pistol on the balcony of his North Stanton street store about 1 39 pm after serving on Judge Harper's jury that morning convicting Herman Springer of forgery to two years in the pen. Brown lay on mattresses and committed suicide.
Messrs Wyatt and Libby of Longepole have purchased the Brewer Garage and taken possession this week.

Alva Rose aged twenty two died Thursday morning at the Metropolitan hotel after tuberculosis and acute pneumonia. Born in Danville Illinois he married Grace RE Roger a year ago. Service Friday at two at the Methodist Church with Zinnecker officiating and burial in Sidney cemetery. Undertakers Harper and Wright. The widow Grace mourns the loss.
The season began with a high school basketball game against Bayard. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving. no school Thursday or Friday. Examinations for the third match are Tuesday and Wednesday. A series of oratorical contests starts next Wednesday in the high school auditorium with entries from Kenneth Bassett Vance Doty Albert Greenlee William Hudson Lewellyn Martin Elmer Nelson John Null and Fred Parks. The Everett Society program follows with readings solos and a chamber group. Osborn sells red roof print at 100 per gallon.
A bridal theater party from Potter attended The Widow Perkins in Sidney on Tuesday night. Guests included Mr and Mrs A J Branscom Mr and Mrs Thos Thornburg Dorothy Thornburg Ellan Erickson Wm Strubble Elmer Nelson Annie Anderson and Mrs George Thornburg. They enjoyed a supper at LeGrand hotel supervised by Mrs Buzza with fried oysters French fries celery fruit cake and ice cream.
Mrs Dr Woitishek and her son Alfred plan to travel early next week to visit her elder son Louis, a second sergeant of company B at Kearney Military Academy, then to Schuyler to see her parents before heading to Southern California. Dr Woitishek is already there. Mrs Hart's sister Mrs Buckingham remains in hospital after a more serious operation than expected, but recovery is hoped to proceed.
