Aldrich Wins Nebraska Governor Contest By Large Plurality

In the Nebraska off year election Chester H Aldrich of David City is elected governor by a large plurality not less than 25000 over Dahlman. The entire Republican slate appears victorious with majorities for Hopewell George Barton Wait Cowles Crabtree Clarke and others. Hitchcock leads the U S Senate preferential vote.

Hitchcock defeats Burkett in tight Nebraska race

Early Nebraska results show Hitchcock ahead in Douglas county by about 9 000, with Burkett carrying Lancaster by 1 822. Aldrich leads narrowly over Narcrman as two thirds of vote counted, and Douglas county supports Dahlman for governor by roughly 8 500. Legislative returns hint at Democratic majorities in both houses.

Electric bulb blaze harms Mrs Davis at Callahan Block

At eleven o clock Wednesday morning Mrs Davis in the Callahan Block room experienced exploding electric bulbs and a fire that burned holes in the rug spread and the comfort. She received an electrical shock and required time to regain her normal condition. She is improving again.

Pioneer Called John Phillips Civil War Veteran Dies

Sidney notices the death of John Phillips 84 at his home on Sunday November 4 1910 from organic trouble aggravated by age. Born in County Monaghan Ireland on September 26 1826 he married Annie Boyle in August 1855 and leaves four children Katherine John Mary Stevenson and a son who died in infancy. Train Wreck Delays Rail Service at Sunol Side Tracks

A wreck occurred Thursday on the U. P. sidetracks at Sunol when two freight trains traveling the same direction collided and derailed a few cars. No fatalities or injuries reported. Mr. Nicholson and the wrecking crew moved to assist the disabled train causing some passenger delays as the track was blocked.
