Sugar beet growers in the Ovid Factory district of the Great Western Sugar Company will receive about 1.51 million dollars for beets delivered through November 4. I L Johnson says harvest is 93 percent complete from Crook, Colorado to Maxwell, Nebraska with an estimated 175000 tons to be harvested at 17.7 tons per acre. Average sugar content remains 16.5 percent and the Ovid factory slices over 2050 tons daily, expected to run just over 100 days.

Freight Train Hits Car Injuring Child at Burlington Crossing
A northbound Q freight train struck a car at the 6th Avenue crossing delaying traffic over an hour. Cold snap looms as Plains front drives highs to single digits
A new front from the Great Plains follows last week with extreme cold across Sidney. Sunday saw 60 degrees, then seven for a high and eight below for a low Friday.
