Two separate Thursday incidents at local intersections. In Sidney a three vehicle crash injures one adult and two children when Mrs Spaeth blinded by sun hits Mrs Willis car. damages are 408 to Willis and ? to Spaeth. In a freak crash Beverly Maddox loses footing, collides with Dorothy Carey car. damages 175 to Carey and 100 to Maddox.

About eight Jaycees from Sydney Australia paused in Sidney Nebraska this morning en route to the International Junior Chamber of Commerce convention in Minneapolis. They toured photo shops and boosted local coffee sales, wearing kangaroo tags labeling their origin and describing their city as slightly larger than Sidney.

Kermit Brumbaugh, deputy sheriff and Imperial Neb. chief, questioned Kermit Brumbaugh about a Lodgepole burglary. Adams, a life term inmate in Wyoming Rawlins, escaped Sept. 8 and hid with two suitcases of clothes, 15 guns, a record player, typewriter, ammo and tools. He planned to be returned to Rawlins.

United Fund Drive Closes Near Target at 13 500 Goal

The United Fund Drive shows 2400 short of the goal with $115.62 added over the last two days. Residential gifts total 96 and business district gifts cover the rest. All drives are officially ended though slight reports may raise the final sum by a few hundred dollars.

Police Chiefs Attend FBI Bombings Conference

Sidney Chief of Police Sol Willis and Cheyenne County W. W. Schulz join an all day FBI law enforcement conference on bombings and threats. The meeting follows a spate of church and school bombings across the southern U S and the East.

Four Candidates Named In Cheyenne Soil District poll

County Agent Ivan Liljegren lists five polling places for a special election to choose two Cheyenne County Soil and Water Conservation District Landowners may vote in person or by sealed ballot at Co-Op Elevator Dalton Farmers Elevator Lodgepole Co-Op Elevator Potter Foland Farm Machinery in Sidney and the County Extension office. Eligible voters include landowners and entities with district land. Polls run 8 am to 5 pm with a 5 pm deadline. Non residents may vote by mail via the District Election Officer.

Potter Man Is Wheat Chief Bruns Hails New 3-State Group

Bennie Herbold Sheimer of Potter was named president of the 400 member Cheyenne County Wheat Growers Assn at the annual election of officers Wednesday night Wayne Campbell of Lodgepole was named Vice President Walter Cork of Sidney was chosen secretary treasurer and 1958 president Harold Tremain was named to State Director Tremain told the group a membership drive will be staged in Sidney next week in an attempt to boost membership from 450 to 500 members Resolutions Presented A host of resolutions on marketing farm program research public relations and budgeting and finance were adopted for presentation to the annual convention of the State Wheat Growers Assn Inc to be held at Alliance next week The resolutions were drawn up by Muriel Crosby Ralph Spearow and Louis Miller The president of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Assn Carl Bruns of Chappell hailed the forming of the regional Great Plains Wheat Market Development Assn in Denver this week Bruns predicted further expansion of the Association that includes wheat committees commissions and associations from Colorado Kansas and Nebraska He forecast growth that would unite wheat growers in ten states He said in a 10 state area with 20 U S Senators they would be in a position to get needed legislation for the wheat farmer The farmers were losing population allotments and foreign markets Bruns criticized farmers who seek more freedom of controls saying They are losing their good sense
