KEARNEY The undefeated Lodgepole Panthers beat Elgin in straight sets 15-12 15-1 to open the state Class D volleyball tournament. Lodgepole advances to face the Shickley Arcadia winner at 10 45 a m Saturday. The finals are set for 5 15 p m Saturday at Cushing Coliseum.
Nebraska's AFDC funds set at 17 million may be jeopardized unless counties adopt uniform eligibility. The regional SSA letter cites Madison County as example of non compliance with state and federal rules, noting interviews and parental residence rulings.
