East West Grid Link Ties Vast Power Areas
A planned early 1967 interconnection will tie eastern and western U S and Canadian power systems through new high voltage lines in Nebraska South Dakota Colorado Wyoming and Montana. The closure creates a single operating grid spanning most of the United States and major Canadian systems with 230 000 volt lines and one 161 000 volt line enabling four tie locations.
