Snowy roads spark two vehicle wrecks near Sidney
Tuesday evening snow coated roads as drivers went slow. Billie Forbes in Len Sherwin’s Buick overturned twice after the Frank Hand place. Forbes regained control and drove to the garage. A second crash at Trognitz place involved a Ford driven by Jack Benedict and a Maxwell driven by John Kurz. Benedict suffered chest injuries and neck strain, the passenger had minor cuts. Cars were sent to machine shops for overhaul.

Obituary for William Swatzlander of Sidney Nebraska
William Swatzlander died November 2 1916 at his son J C Swatzlander’s home in Sidney after treatment in Omaha. Born June 5 1844 in Meadville Pennsylvania he served in the 145 Pennsylvania Volunteers and was wounded at Spotsylvania. He married Mary Catherine Burgholz in 1865 and is survived by four Sidney children. He was a Baptist and retired farmer, honored in a house funeral conducted by Reverend Donaldson attended by family and friends as pallbearers named.
