Federal Tax On Travel Ends November 16
The ten per cent federal tax on transportation will end at 12:01 a.m. Friday November 16. Bus lines and bus ticket offices report termination of the tax on tickets sold by that time. Frontier Air Lines confirms ending the tax on air travel though a five per cent federal airways tax remains. The change follows Congressional action earlier this year. the tax began as a World War II emergency measure and persisted through many sessions.

Frontier Air Lines reports October passenger counts up from a year earlier. In Nebraska 6,873 passengers used Frontier Sunliners across 13 communities, a 38 percent increase from 4,976 the prior October. The 10 state Midwest and West system carried 33,800 passengers, a 15 percent rise and a new October record. Over 10 months the Sunliners carried 362,800 passengers and 97,772,000 passenger miles.

Local Resident's Mother Dies During Visit Here
Nancy J McCoy 86 of Crawford died suddenly early Friday at her daughter Mrs Homer Kerontes in Sidney due to a heart attack while visiting family. Funeral services are pending Gehrig and Son Funeral Home in charge. She married Lewis McCoy December 10 1899 in Crawford. Survived by three sons Lorenzo Marion LeRoy all Crawford and two daughters Marcia Miller Englewood Cole and Nina Kocontes Sidney.

Paul K. Simpson Victim of Heart Attack
Paul K. Simpson 64 died suddenly Thursday night at his home in Sidney from a heart attack. He had lived in Sidney 20 years after moving from Sedgwick Colorado in 1942. Funeral services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gehrig and Son with burial at Greenwood Cemetery and military graveside honors. He served in World War I and was employed at Body's Cigar Store for 15 years. Survivors include his wife Sophia and several stepchildren, a brother, a sister, and nine grandchildren.

Intersection Collision Reported At Potter
A two car crash at 11 50 a m near the Lutheran Church in Potter caused light damage to both vehicles. The 1948 Chevrolet driven by William Prehm and a 1961 Chevrolet driven by Betty Nelson, both of Potter, sustained about 75 dollars in damage each. Sgt Mel Busekist of the Nebraska Highway Patrol investigated.
