Destructive Gale Hits Cheyenne County Towns
A 70 mile per hour wind swept Cheyenne County last Friday bringing a brief blizzard to the southern half. Gurley’s American Legion building lost two walls with no roof as gusts tore through. Sidney saw downed power lines, interrupted service for up to 90 minutes, and widespread heating failures. Utility crews worked overnight to restore power as trees and ice disrupted travel and farm buildings shifted under the wind. The storm mainly affected southeastern Wyoming and surrounding areas with no snow north of Dalton or south of Sterling.
