Legion Offers Servicemen Aid For VA Claims

The American Legion provides free representation before the VA through a full time Lincoln VA Regional Office staff. Veterans need not be Legion members to use the service. Public Law 90-77 expands wartime compensation, education benefits, on the job training, pensions, and VA home loans.

Farm Bureau Board Meets in Cheyenne County Dinner

The Cheyenne County Farm Bureau held its annual dinner with new and old board members and kicked off a membership drive. Robert A. Thompson state secretary treasurer spoke on state activities, urban relations, a marketing system for farmers, and the importance of good farm records. Delegates planning to attend the State Farm Bureau meeting Nov. 12-15 include Bob Misegadis, Roland Green, Ronald McMillan and Francis Runge.

Farmers Union To Meet Monday in Sid ney

The Cheyenne County Farmers Union holds its annual meeting Nov 13 at 6 30 p m with a smorgasbord style dinner at Yendis Cafe in Sidney. Officers for the coming term will be elected and guest speaker Dee Lowe of Graff and Gardner Sterling Colorado will discuss buying and selling futures in beef and grain.

Warren Poston a Texas hunter reported a theft from his car of two hunting knives and four boxes of 16 gauge shotgun shells in what police described as otherwise quiet activity.

The City of Sidney offered 1 325 000 for 16 367.61 acres of land at the former Sioux Army Depot, with no minerals included. GSA notified Sen. Carl Curtis that the offer is acceptable and a congressional submission is planned, with closing about 35 days after committee action.

Interchange Open on I 80 Bridges Nebraska Wyoming Line

The Nebraska Wyoming state line interchange on Interstate 80 will open Friday morning guiding westbound traffic from U S 30 Nebraska to 180 Wyoming. State Highway Dept earlier added edge sloping along the SR 19 curve south of Sidney to improve vehicle control after past accidents. The Egging Co plant access road southeast of Gurley, built by Cheyenne County, is paved and ready for traffic though most vehicles will start Friday.

Minuteman Band Day and Nebraska Music Educators Meet Set

Dalton hosts the Minuteman Conference Band Day with about 300 musicians from eight schools. Sidney prepares for the Nebraska Music Educators convention with over 1400 students and educators for a three day program featuring clinics, district tryouts, and the 1967 All-State orchestra, chorus, and band led by J. R. McEntyre Elmer Copley and Abraham Chavez.

Close to 1 000 Cattle Listed For Sidney Sale

The Sid ney Livestock Sales Pavilion sale planned for Saturday November 11 already lists nearly 1 000 head with more consignments expected. Buyers from local and eastern markets show rising interest and officials anticipate stable prices. Listings include calves and yearlings 350 to 550 pounds and a batch of Angus cows with 2nd and 3rd calves. The sale is shaping up as one of the largest of the fall season at Sidney market.
