Official vote of Cheyenne County Nebraska shows the state election held on Tuesday November 4 1902 with a total tally of 1 000 ballots recorded.
In Cheyenne county a light turnout produced defeats for Republican candidates in key county posts. fusion nominee Mark Spanogle won the county attorney race by 137, while Frank Rilen edged Henry Doran for commissioner by 11 votes after a tight three way contest. Frank X. Rihn, the Democratic candidate, will serve as commissioner in the second district, tracing his roots to Elsass Germany and arrival in 1868.
The Telegraph notes Mr. Rihn's integrity and favors for public service while Mark Spanogle is praised as Bridgeport's popular county attorney candidate. It reports Republican majorities of 6 to 9 thousand statewide, 2,500 in the congress district, and 700 for the representative, with broader GOP gains nationwide.

Riiroos Epon Supt Chas Ware of the U P visited the city Wednesday. Burr McConaughy takes a helper post in the roundhouse as U P adds switch tracks and an air compressor arrives from Omaha. Multiple transfers occur while extra operators are hired amid increased business. The U P plans about a thousand feet more trackage on the west end after grading completed years ago. Harry Parker proposes a traveling brakeman role to reward attentive service on passenger trains.
Miss Sadie Daily of Hygiene Colorado visited Miss Allen and Miss Davey last week. Several ninth graders Susie Sweet Myrtle Joy and Rosa Cloubar were absent most of the week. Mrs Stewitts and Mrs Bassett visited rooms Tuesday. Cora Fast was absent in Miss Allen s room last week due to a country visit. Miss Allen will hold morning rhetorical exercises of two to three numbers. The botany class closed its winter lesson and will begin English literature. The eagle eyed professor and assistant dish out dainty rewards to pupils. Classical music attracts many high school votaries with Billy Boy and Robinson Crusoe as favorites.
