Fire at Commercial Hotel Endangers Building

A lamp explosion in the Commercial Hotel office sparked a blazing room, injuring Walter Nelson and wrecking the space. J W Harper helped extinguish the fire with fire-extinguishing powder. The blaze caused about 100 dollars in damage but was covered by insurance.

Local residents and visitors noted in Sidney city briefs

Grant Brady the Potter stockman and several other locals were in Sidney on various days for business and visits. Rancher Edward Francis toured Cheyenne while buying time at Oliveta. A concert by the Schubert Mandolin and Guitar Club was announced for November 18. Transient visitors strained three local hotels as eight guests were turned away. County official F A. Rowan signed county warrants.

John Lansing of Hastings Neb purchases several carloads of hog stock for his farm. He once lived in Hastings in 1880 and worked for the Union Pacific railroad. Steam well drilling outfit received for artesian water test

A comprehensive drilling rig was delivered to Jim Zimmerman and will drill to 2500 feet. An experimental artesian water well will be sunk on land owned by Dr. Stewitts and O. D. Lyon, one mile southwest of town. Work starts immediately and the public awaits results with interest.
