The annual meet dates for western Nebraska agriculture were moved from December 15 16 17 to December 7 8 9 due to a clash with the irrigation congress at Scottsbluff. County Agent L D Willey says Sidney events will feature speakers on field crops including potatoes with certification topics and disease control. Shows for potatoes corn and poultry are planned with generous prizes for top potatoes and a question box session daily. Continued on page 7.

Pontifical requiem mass for Archbishop J J Harty of Omaha was celebrated at St. Agnes church in Los Angeles. Harty died Friday at St. Agnes rectory where he had been since July seeking to regain health. The body departed Los Angeles tonight for Omaha, arriving early Thursday morning.

Beet growers in the Nebraska district of Great Western Sugar will receive 5.7 million dollars on November 15 for about 700000 tons of beets delivered in October. Willard Test Well Reaches Depth Near Mile Mark

Former Sidney Resident Dies in Los Angeles California
Word was received in Sidney of the death of Earl Sanders in Los Angeles on Monday October 31. He spent his boyhood in Sidney and attended Sidney public schools before moving to Omaha, then California, where he had lived 17 years. He was 44. Burial plans call for the remains to be taken to Omaha by a close friend, with his father M. J. Sanders and sister Mrs. Worden accompanying the body through Sidney on the Gold Coast limited Saturday morning.

Bergdoll Messenger Deported After $5000 Note Capture
Grand Forks N D Nov 2 Immigation officers disclosed the capture of Martin Scheuch a 26 year old German messenger who carried a Bergdoll note seeking five thousand dollars for the notorious American draft evader Bergdoll He was captured at St Vincent Minn the point from which Bergdoll fled the country and has since been deported to Germany The note asked his mother to send funds and promised to return in my way Scheuch also carried Bergdoll photographs and attempted to draw a revolver intending to kill himself rather than face disgrace He refused to discuss Bergdoll.

Funeral Car Destroyed by Fire Along Highway
A funeral car owned by Irl W. Wright of this city was destroyed by fire ten miles north of Dalton on Tuesday while Wright drove it to be delivered to an undertaker north of town. The blaze began from a likely ignition short circuit and engulfed the front end. Wright could not extinguish it, and the car was a total loss. Insurance with Francis Herbert Agency covered nearly the full value.

New Police Building Under Construction in Sidney
Sidney council ordered a tile and brick addition to the municipal building to house the police department and city equipment. George Plein holds the contract. the 36 by 60 foot addition will front West Third street with entrances at the rear alley. The jail facilities will be at the back, and the west side will store road machinery and supplies. Completion is expected this month as crews work on brick and tile walls.

Case of pre war Scotch found buried near Kimball
A farmer near Kimball discovered a partly buried case of pre-war Scotch whiskey about 50 feet from a Union Pacific line and near the Lincoln highway. The case had been buried for six years, bottles were gone, but labels and wood description were intact.
