Firemen from Sidney and Lodgepole battled flames overnight, using water from an irrigation ditch due to limited water supply. Cause undetermined, with spontaneous combustion or a passing train spark suspected. The structure collapsed, grain spilled, and loading gear was ruined. Earl Scott of York Nebraska was arrested by Sidney police Sunday night and held on auto theft charges for Pine Bluffs authorities. He is accused of stealing a 1937 V-8 Ford, with an arrest alarm sent out by the Pine Bluffs sheriff's office.

Northwestern Bell Telephone Co and a five state Bell workers union reach a wage increase agreement. The contract, pending approval by the national board of the Communications Workers of America and ratification by Northwestern division 45, raises hourly rates up to 15 cents for traffic operators.
