The Wilsons from Omaha arrive to visit E W Zeibert and wife. On June first Wilson Ziebert and James Hill of Cartage Ill will embark for an annual fishing trip to Laramie Wy then forty miles by auto to trout-filled waters. A provision wagon will precede them and Wyoming friends may join. Sidney may anticipate a generous return of the catch.
John T Rivett died at his Angora home on May 17 after a long illness. He was 55 and well known locally. The remains were taken to Lincoln for burial. Rivett ran a general store in Angora after moving west for health reasons following years with the Burlington railroad in Lincoln.
Anton Krupicka, sixteen, was sent to the penitentiary for life for killing his stepfather. He has a chance for pardon after a hearing before the governor. Supporters argue the case is clear and a human life may not be wasted for killing a man many view as bad.
On Wednesday a scaffolding collapse at the new Bentley house sent Supt Hiscock and carpenter Joe Stont plunging fifteen feet. Hiscock escaped with minor injuries while Stont suffered severe bruises and shock and remains under care at the Pioneer hotel.
Sidney baseball opened with a three game trip winning two at Ogalalla 6 to 3 and 21 to 0 then blasting Chappell 18 to 1. Four games this season all wins set up a Kimball game tomorrow with many fans expected to travel.
Henry Doran J W McDaniel Simon Fishman and E W Ziebert drove to Chappell on Thursday to attend the Sidney-Chappell game. A rain shower occurred, dampening the event and the company.
The Donahoo Underflow Irrigation Co led by James T. Donahoo aims to lift underflow to surface head ditches then underground leads and laterals to irrigate beets across 15 000 acres with beets factory potential. Wells placed every few miles will lift water to the standard irrigation practice expected to boost Lodgepole valley property values within three years. The Telegraph will report progress.
M. G. Brewer has assumed personal supervision of the Bweneon garage. Mr Swenson, busy with other business, could not attend to the garage as needed. Brewer, a first class mechanic and business man, has long been established in the trade and will run the new place with the same reliable service patrons expect.
Krueger Lake saw the christening of a small eight passenger steam launch on Sunday with Misses Irene and Maggie Kelley as sponsors. The craft is described as a natty motor boat likely to prove popular and profitable. A dancing pavilion is planned to be erected next.
The famous production will appear for one night only in Sidney on Saturday May 28 in a large waterproof pavilion theatre. Ticket prices are popular and suits are tailored to measure with a guarantee of fit or no sale. Oberfelder Clothing Co. and E A Bernman note Bernman traveled from Kimball on Sunday.
George Hudson Parks and Francesa Robinson were married on April 21 1910 in Julesburg Colorado. The groom, son of J J Parks, works for Union Pacific, and the bride, a Chappell school teacher, will tour briefly before settling in Sidney to host friends after August 1.
The Friday night St Elmo performance drew a nearly full Sidney audience as the troupe impressed in a strong showing. Professor Vath's orchestra provided superb music and the crowd praised the production, asking for another such presentation.
The Bell M S club thanks Sidney citizens for donations and cooperation in establishing the rest room. Special thanks go to business leaders and several organizations including Kings Daughters P E O Chapter Royal Neighbors Lady MacCabees and the Degree of Honor plus individual donors.
Mr and Mrs W E Swatzlander entertained guests at six o clock Saturday evening for the hostess birthday celebration at their charming home. The event was described as the merriest of them all with lively company and warm hospitality.
The Bergman auction sale, which should have occurred last week, was postponed because of continuous bad weather. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight with Vo. F. Kucera as auctioneer. Next Saturday, June fourth, the sale starts at 1:30 p.m. Bargains will be offered in the interval prizes.
D. T. Hall suffered serious injuries when a team hauling cream at the Burlington station bolted, throwing him under the wheels. He was rushed to Cheyenne hospital in grave condition. Hall had arrived from Maquoketa, Iowa last fall.
While driving on the North divide last Sunday Bob Dyke had to jump from the wagon to contort the harness as the team bolted. He managed to regain control but sustained significant head and facial bruising in the incident.
The big New York success thrills audiences with a romantic drama and light comedy. A 30-person company performs under a large waterproof tent with 1,800 seating capacity. Prof Reed’s Concert Band and Orchestra provide music. a noon street parade is held daily. one night only on May 28 featuring Sidney.
