Centennial Shaping Up For June 4 Thru 7

Plans for the Cheyenne County Centennial event June 4 to 7 are shaping up with a downtown program. Highlights include a Thursday 7:30 p.m. opening with Old Time Fiddlers and Prairie Schooners, a Friday kids parade and teen dance, a Saturday parade with 50 entries, a water fight, and a Sunday go cart race.

Michener Explores Platte Region for Possible Novel

Western Nebraska Bar Association Elects Officers in Ogallala

Jack R. Knice ly of Sidney was elected president and Don Tedesco was secretary treasurer at the Western Nebraska Bar Association annual meeting in Ogallala. The 1971 meeting was awarded to Sidney and may occur in May. The State Aeronautics Commission boosted Sidney Airport terminal funding by 6030 to 33680, with total cost rising to about 84200 due to inflation and added features. Additional state help of about 14300 was hoped, but the commission limited participation to 40 percent. The terminal design has been revised several times, with plans to serve future commercial needs and possible shuttle service. The commission also approved Ogallala’s request to advance state funds for land acquisition tied to an airport improvement project.

W B Emery II is appointed manager of Marathon Oil Co natural gas division forming a single office for the Alaskan LNG Project and gas contracts. He previously led LNG operations in Los Angeles since 1964 and served as Marathon's Tokyo representative.

Strike Settlement Report Appears Premature

Reports over the weekend claimed a settlement in the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas strike, but officials said the agreement was not finalized. James E.
