County Board in Sidney Audits Claims and Adjourns

May 20 1907 the county board met in Sidney Nebraska to audit and allow claims including light service wages road funds and tax sale refunds. They ordered warrants drawn and approved a constable appointment for Sidney precinct and then adjourned sine die.

Decoration Day Program Arranged for Cemetery Services

The program opens at 10 a m with veterans citizens and school children gathering at the Grand Army hall to march to the cemetery to decorate graves. At 2 p m at Tobin Opera House a sequence of songs recitations and an address by Jas L McIntosh will follow including pieces The Land of the Red White and Blue Marching On Gatherin Lilies and America with several veterans and students performing. The public is invited and Old Veterans Grand Army members are specially urged to attend.

Book Luncheon Closes Belle M. Stoutenborough Club Year

The Book Luncheon hosted by Mrs. Callahan at her home last Saturday capped the Belle M. Stoutenborough Club's year with guests in book themed costumes and a new book game. Prizes went to Miss Neubauer for the game and Mrs. Jones for best costume, with luncheon by Two Little Girls in Blue. The afternoon featured readings, a four course meal, and souvenirs shaped as books.

Allen Britton marriage saddles Sidney with quiet surprise

Miss Rodeene A. Britton married Mr. Cicero Allen of Cheyenne Wyoming at the Britton home on South Rose Street Sunday May 19 at 5 30. Rev A W James officiated. Only the bride’s mother and Mr Winfield S Allen attended. The couple will honeymoon in Ouray Colorado and return to Sidney to reside. Other local marriages and licenses are noted including Mary Zalesky and John Clark and P A Pultz with Anna L Fredrickson.

Former Sidney resident Robert Shuman dies after illness

Robert Shuman former Sidney resident and long time North Platte city treasurer died at his Third ward home after a two week illness from paralytic trouble. He was born December 16 1844 in Springfield Illinois and came to North Platte in 1890 from Sidney where he served three terms as county judge. He married Ella Taggertt and worked for Union Pacific where injuries left him an invalid. A Princeton graduate who spoke seven languages he served in the Civil War and was a Mason for forty years. He leaves a wife and four daughters and was the last of eight siblings. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal church with G A R W R C Masons and other orders represented.

Denver Boosters Here Special Train Stops in Sidney

A special train of the Colorado Manufacturers association arrives in Sidney at 6:45 for a 50 minute stop as part of a 2 500 mile journey from Denver begun last Sunday. The excursion includes 75 people with four Pullmans four diners and a baggage car and features the 21st Infantry band of 25 members.
