County Board in Sidney Audits Claims and Adjourns

Decoration Day Program Arranged for Cemetery Services
The program opens at 10 a m with veterans citizens and school children gathering at the Grand Army hall to march to the cemetery to decorate graves. At 2 p m at Tobin Opera House a sequence of songs recitations and an address by Jas L McIntosh will follow including pieces The Land of the Red White and Blue Marching On Gatherin Lilies and America with several veterans and students performing. The public is invited and Old Veterans Grand Army members are specially urged to attend.

Former Sidney resident Robert Shuman dies after illness
Robert Shuman former Sidney resident and long time North Platte city treasurer died at his Third ward home after a two week illness from paralytic trouble. He was born December 16 1844 in Springfield Illinois and came to North Platte in 1890 from Sidney where he served three terms as county judge. He married Ella Taggertt and worked for Union Pacific where injuries left him an invalid. A Princeton graduate who spoke seven languages he served in the Civil War and was a Mason for forty years. He leaves a wife and four daughters and was the last of eight siblings. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal church with G A R W R C Masons and other orders represented.
