Grazing Association Seeks Sioux Depot Land via Ag Department

The Omaha World Herald reports approximately 16 000 acres at Sioux Army Depot may be transferred to the Department of Agriculture through the Farmers Home Administration and Sioux Grazing Association. Sidney plans bids from five groups and about 20 individuals for depot land with bids within 10 percent of appraised value.

Roy Greenlee 70 Dies. Rites Friday in Sidney

Roy E. Greenlee 70, longtime Sidney merchant and community leader, died Tuesday in La Jolla California after surgery. Funeral services are Friday at 10 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. pallbearers named. He was a WWI veteran and held several local offices. Surviving are two sisters and a sister-in-law in Sidney. Memorials suggested to Christ Episcopal Church or Memorial Hospital Home.

Students Qualify For VoTech Loan At Sidney School

Western Nebraska Vocational Technical School at Sidney qualifies for United Student Aid Fund loans. The plan, sponsored by the Federal government and underwritten by the government, allows loans of 1000 to 1500 for six quarter courses. Repayment begins after the tenth month and runs 25 to 100 monthly. Students should contact the school for loan forms.

Trail Ride Plans To Be Completed

The Cheyenne County Centennial Celebration committee will finalize plans for the Sidney Deadwood Trail Ride set for next August. A meeting is scheduled in Sidney on Thursday June 1 at 11 a.m. in the Shelter Room of the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. Chairman Merle Bobo notes 63 inquiries from 18 states.

Two Kimball Men Die In Colorado Collision

Two Kimball men were killed in a county road crash near New Raymer in northeast Colorado Monday night. The Colorado State Patrol identified the victims as Lawrence C. Warrington, 31, and Raymond D. Miller, 57.

Weather and moisture have revived most winter wheat in the southern Panhandle Nebr. Despite late April and early May freezes, experts expect only light if any damage. Roberts to Succeed Rhodes as Oil and Gas Board Director

Paul Roberts a staff petroleum engineer with the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission since 1960 was named commission director effective June 10. He will replace H N Rhodes who resigned to enter private industry in Kansas City Mo. Roberts a Nebraska native and Albion High School graduate holds a BS from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He previously worked for Halliburton. The commission announced the appointment after its Sid ney meeting. The panel also approved Marathon Oil Cls water flooding at Graff Field Cheyenne County near Dalton and set a ten acre spacing ruling for drilling in Barada Field Richardson County Nebraska.
