Graduation exercises were held for 201 Cheyenne county eighth graders in Greeley Colorado with I E Stutsman superintendent delivering the principal address. Two students were honored for scholastic work Arthur Lenzen and Keith Schwartz while several spellers including Jeanne Nelson Hazel Olson Doris Claire Long and Mickey Green were noted. The junior high orchestra played the processional.

Golf Meet Set for Sunday at Sidney Country Club

Union Pacific considers high speed gas electric train plan
The Union Pacific contemplates a cigar shaped gas electric or diesel electric train capable of 90 to 100 mph to cut the Omaha to Los Angeles schedule from 46 hours 25 minutes to about 30 hours. State Engineer Cochran announces Department of Roads and Irrigation will take bids June 8 for resurfacing about 353 miles of graveled roads at an estimated 125000 dollars. Softball Season Opens With Upsets And Power Hitting

Pioneer Lady Passes Away At 79 In Peetz
Fannie Amelia Ayle, 79, a pioneer of the district, died Thursday morning at her son Alvey’s home in Peetz after a fall caused hip injuries. She previously lived in Sidney and at the Taylor hospital, moved to Peetz last July, with funeral services planned for Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery. Burial is pending arrangements. husband Jacob Ayle died in 1926.

Catherine Jones Hurt As Horse Runs Away
Catherine Jones daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Jones sustained a fractured pelvis and other injuries after being thrown from a runaway horse yesterday. She was placed in a cast and will remain in bed for several weeks, the physician stated. The horse bolted several blocks before the fall.
