Veteran Sioux Employee To Retire After 18 Years Here
John Marshall, long time chief of the Sioux Army Depot Provost Marshal Division, was honored at a luncheon at the Hi-Spot Cafeteria as he planned retirement after 18 years of service. Born in Scotland, Marshall served in the British Army and Navy, later emigrated to the United States, became a citizen in 1937, and served in the U S Navy during WWII. He joined Sioux as a security guard and rose to chief at two intervals, planning to visit Scotland before settling in Denver after retirement.

Clinton Ralph Carper 47 died last Saturday at Veterans Hospital Cheyenne. Funeral services Wednesday at two from Gehrig and Son with burial in Greenwood Cemetery and military graveside rites. An interim Nebraska Legislature committee on trade school needs will visit Sidney early this summer. Chairman Sen Fern Hubbard Orme said the group will review facilities for a potential trade school if the Legislature approves another. Sen George H Fleming discussed the plan in Lincoln and later spoke with Orme in Sidney.

Adolph Grage Dead at 80 Rites Set for Thursday
Adolph Grage 80 died Sunday in Memorial Hospital after seven weeks as patient. A retired Union Pacific railroad employee, he lived 48 years in Cheyenne County and farmed near Sidney before 1934 when he joined UP. Funeral Thursday May 21 at 2 pm from Gehrig and Son with Rev Henry Monnich officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by three brothers Rudolph Denver Louis and Albert Sidney and three sisters Clara Case San Francisco Josephine McFarland Los Angeles Esther Hunnicat Cody.

Winds Drive Wreck On Highway 30 At Lodgepole Neb
A 4 50 a m accident on Highway 30 one half mile west of Lodgepole caused heavy damage but no injuries. A westbound pickup driven by Gilbert N Bailey, 35, Sterling, was blown out of control by strong winds and struck the rear of an eastbound truck driven by John B Kroft, 29, David City. Damages: $150 to the pickup and $100 to the Kroft truck. Trooper Del Shipley of the Nebraska Safety Patrol investigated.
