Most of Cheyenne County endured a heavy shower between 3 and 5 pm with cold winds and hail possible. Sidney saw a rapid drop to 49.2 degrees as rain poured down at about 3 45 pm, with 32 mph winds and gusts to 40 mph. A quarter inch of rain fell in twenty minutes then drizzle persisted.

Hinman Services Held for Ben S. Hinman
Memorial services were held at Dalton Presbyterian Church for Ben S. Hinman 73 who died at Methodist Hospital Scottsbluff after a week of illness. He was born November 10 1878 in Marshalltown Iowa and lived much of his life in western Nebraska including Ravenna Alliance and Dalton. Survivors include widow Alice two daughters five sons sisters and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Neighbors Plow 250 Acres for Ill Farmer
Twenty one friends and neighbors helped Mr and Mrs Rodocker plow about 250 acres in six hours while Mr Rodocker was in Denver for medical treatment. Tornado Damages Farm Near Lorenzo Massachusetts
A Tuesday night tornado damaged buildings on the George Fleming farm half a mile west of Lorenzo. The barn twisted off its foundation. bricks were ripped from the house chimney and hurled into Carl Loch’s parked car. Farm operator Robert Hajek was milking in the barn and unharmed. Nearby farmers north of Sidney saw a funnel cloud near the Huntsman gasoline plant but did not observe a ground touchdown.

Ham Heads Three-State REA Unit
Charles E. Ham of Sidney, manager of The Wheat Belt Electric Membership Association, elected president of the newly formed Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association. REA financed rural electric associations in Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming plan a power study to gauge farm and rural demand for a potential large generation plant. The study will include 20 to 27 REA member systems and may lead to construction if needs require. The board of directors includes Ham and nine others from Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming.
